This building is our building, it is our House, but it is not occupied with those who would represent us and our interests. Instead it is packed with those who would serve the few at the expense of the many, it is filled with Senators and Representatives who serve the donor class of oligarchs and special interests, who spend the majority of their time at the Capital not legislating, but instead gerrymandering by reconstructing district lines, or talking on the phone trying to secure more donations (legalized bribes) from the corrupting overclass just to maintain their seat of power for the coming election. We have a major problem of how our elections are run as well as funded, and it has allowed corporations, billionaires and multimillionaires to not only control the levers of our economy, but of our government as well. We are told we live in a Constitutional Republic with strong democratic processes, but that is no longer true, and only was for a very short lived time if ever at all. We are ruled over by a small group of moneyed elite who have all of the effect on public policy, while the public has very little to no effect. In short we live in an Oligarchy, need evidence? Just look into the 20 year study conducted between Princeton and Northwestern that concluded that the US does indeed serve the moneyed few at the expense of the many who have no power. It may seem strange that just a few people could deny the masses their right to govern themselves within a democratic state, but when you take into account our campaign finance system, Supreme Court rulings like Citizens United, the propaganda coming through all the major main stream media news outlets, and the current state of our national politics you can quickly realize how it can be accomplished. Division of the lower classes, racial strife, xenophobia for domestic economic issues as well as a dash of xenophobia for justification of empire expanding and perpetual warfare, and the stage is set to allow for powerful few to pillage the world as well as our own nation, all while the masses blame, the “other” of their preference.
