Throwback Thursday! Five years ago at Big Omaha I met one of my heroes, Cindy Gallop, who has since become a friend, personal champion, and supporter of me in my work as an entrepreneur and an activist. We first bonded during a walk in downtown Omaha where we chatted about dating, kids, and running a company, and then joined up with Dave McClure of 500 Startups for a drink and to talk about bringing more inclusivity of the experiences of women in tech entrepreneurship. Cindy Gallop is a business and advertising legend, a style icon, a feminist hero, an innovator, and an incredibly brave person.
On her work to change the ratio and increase gender equality in business, Cindy said, "I'm not doing this because I'm a woman, OK? I'm not doing this because it is the right thing to do. I am doing this because I quite literally want to weep when I see the enormous possibilities inherent in the massively untapped pool of talent and creativity of women and people of color that our industry is spectacularly failing to leverage. Our glory days have not even begun, because we have not even begun to see what we could be with the creativity and the talent and skills of women and people of color." I am forever indebted to Cindy, personally, for helping me to get out--and stay out--of the box. ❤💙 #tbt
