When training my fav body part (legs) I used to do minimal warm up and just jump into the fire. After years of football and wrestling injuries - 5 knee surgeries, 1 shredded Achilles and the most sexiest fun pain injury of all - ripping the top of my quad and adductor tendon off my pelvis - I've learned the best thing we can do is ALWAYS carve out the proper time to warm up those muscles, tendons & ligaments so we do what we luv... and that's get in the game and f*ck shit up.

In the training room, we own the ins & the outs, & success is undeniably ours for the taking, if we desire it badly enough. I go into all of my workouts w/ a plan of attack, which, to me, is the trickiest part: The creation of a thoughtful, progressive, results-driven plan to follow & properly implement. But, after that's done, the consequent process is a beautiful one, an EMPOWERING one, & the equation for consistent achievement & excellence is, in my opinion, quite simple: Work hard. Execute. And, GRIND until you are DONE! @TheRock was onto something big: The "GRIND DNA" truly exists in ALL of us! We just have to be willing to invest our energy, heart, passion, love, & sweat, in order to UNLEASH it. #BestSelf || 🔥UPDATE👉🏼#DrMattFitness: If you follow my Instagram Story, then you know that today's Focus Lift was a massive, 60-set limits-crusher, emphasizing my Back & including some fine-tuning/detail work on my Front Deltoids, Triceps, & Biceps. Right now, my body & my mind are completely in sync & in a phenomenal rhythm! A lot of people keep asking me what my plans are for 2017, in terms of competing, so here it is: In order to optimize my muscle growth patterns & maximize the results I wish to see w/ my Physique & Athletic Performance during my off-stage season, I need to allow for a very consistent flow & routine, in order to steadily add lean muscle mass to my frame. Importantly, I am doing this in a very muscle group, sport-specific way, & I have learned one valuable lesson from my 1st year competing as an NPC Men's Physique Athlete ... TIME is my greatest asset! So, I plan to initiate a wicked cut for the stage, to bring my top conditioning to-date, sometime in the summer months, in preparation for a local/regional show (or, a few) in Sept./Oct. This will be followed up by another visit to the National Stage, as I vie for my IFBB Men's Physique Pro Card! I have BIG goals, always, & I don't stop, until I EARN them.
