filmtrivia1000's Instagram Photo - The Creeper originally had a line of dialogue but it was cut from the film●Jonathan Breck shaved his head for the Creeper role, inspired by the notion that the Creeper was naturally hairless and would have to "borrow" hair from victims. The "Creeper" eye contacts made him blind whenever he had them on. Breck appears as one of the officers towards the end of the movie in the police department. He is the bald officer●The Creeper is ancient and has collected clothes throughout the centuries. He's wearing a very worn down and decrepit Civil War coat in this film. His license plate "BEATINGU" is not "Beating You". It's "Be Eating You"●When The Creeper was eating Trooper Gideon's tongue, the prop kept snapping back into Jonathan's face during the first few takes●Gina Philips (Trish) and Justin Long (Darry) were not allowed to meet Jonathan Breck before filming in order to get a true reaction from them when they actually did see him with his full costume and makeup. The first time they saw the Creeper's truck was during filming of the scene when they almost get run off the road●Patricia Belcher's first day of shooting was when the creeper sneaks up from behind her and sniffs her. Patricia played Jezelle●At the end of the film when Darry is screaming off-screen as the Creeper rips out his eyes- it's actually Tom Tarantini doing the screaming. Tom plays Roach, the sarcastic man in handcuffs at the police station. Tom also played Coach Dwayne Barnes in 2003 sequel Jeepers Creepers 2.

filmtrivia1000's Instagram Photo - Director, Victor Salva wrote the "Every 23 years for 23 days it gets to eat" rule in the first movie so there would be no sequel unless it was set in the future. Producer, Francis Ford Coppola found an easy loophole in the rule for the sequel (set it during the same 23 days as the first movie). Chronologically, part 2 takes place 4 days after part 1●Jonathan Breck spent 3 to 5 hours in the makeup chair to become The Creeper●There is a deleted scene that shows that the creeper has been around since medieval times with a corpse of a Knight with the Creepers face on his shield●During the scene where Izzy, Double D, and Rhonda try to escape The Creeper in the pick up truck, Izzy played by (Travis @travisty911 Schiffner) accidentally puts the truck into drive instead of reverse causing him to hit the tree. Travis said it was not unintentional, but the take worked well enough that it was left in the film●The creepers lair in part 2 is the farm house not too far from the bus. That's where he takes the bodies. There was supposed to be a scene where the kids would hide in the seller of the farm and discover hundreds of bodies. It only stayed on the storyboards and was never filmed.#JeepersCreepers2

horrorking31's Instagram Photo - Jeepers Creepers 2 is an inferior sequel. It takes elements that worked about the first film and does away with them. Unlike the first movie, Jeepers Creepers 2 has some of the most underdeveloped characters in horror movie history. In addition, the plot is weak and the acting is subpar. It certainly can be an enjoyable movie, but it doesn't come close to the first half of the original film.

After watching the two Jeepers Creepers movies back to back, I started thinking about how unfocused both films are in relation to the Creeper mythology. The first film incorporates all sorts of elements yet doesn't ever address them and I'm curious as to your thoughts about this. Is the Creeper meant to be human or a demon? Why does it drive a truck? Why does it whistle when it exits the police car in the first film? Where does the psychic lady come from? Why does she suddenly turn up and have all the answers? What was with the Jeepers Creepers song? Jezelle says that once that song starts playing that's a sign that the Creeper is coming- what happened to that storyline? What was with the abandoned church and the human mosaic?

There are so many ideas surrounding the Creeper itself that are introduced but are never expanded upon or addressed again. Do you think this is a reflection of an unclear direction? What do you hope will be addressed, expanded upon, and/or clarified in the third film?

horrorking31's Instagram Photo - I mentioned in my review of Steven Spielberg's Duel that that film had a clear influence on later films, including Jeepers Creepers and having finished watching this movie again, I can really see how the beginning of the film homages Duel significantly. It's probably the reason why I think the first half of the film is brilliant. Everything about it works. You have two characters played brilliantly by Justin Long and Gina Philips who convey an authentic brother/sister relationship. I think Gina Philips in particular gives a standout performance because her character seems to be holding back so much more than we as the audience ever really find out about her. Philips adds a depth to the character that the script itself doesn't address or call for but that's what makes her seem so real. It's difficult to have two actors hold a film by themselves but Long and Philips do an excellent job at depicting fear and terror as they are pursued by a maniacal truck driver on a quiet highway road.

I think the film falls apart in the second half though. Suddenly the suspense and tension are thrown away in exchange for over the top gore and killing. That isn't to say that the second half is bad but it pales in comparison to the slow burning, suspense filled first half of the movie. The second half feels bland and uninspired and it feels all the more unoriginal when it's compared to the brilliantly shot, unique first half of the movie.

With that said, I really like Jeepers Creepers. It isn't often that a modern horror film focuses so much on character depth and development but this one does. The first half is so intriguing and captivating and it's a shame that it doesn't continue throughout the second half of the film.

What are your thoughts on Jeepers Creepers? What do you think of the Creeper itself? Does he make for a good horror villain? What did you like about this film? What didn't you like?
