I temporarily interrupt your usually scheduled hiking & mountain photos for an important announcement. I have very exciting news, Boulderites. I am now a Community Ambassador for Together4Boulder. I fully support this coalition and the 5 candidates that they endorse for City Council: Sam Weaver, Mary Young, Mriabai Nagle, John Gerstle, and Cindy Carlisle. Let me tell you why.
I've always thought that what separates Boulder from most other towns & cities is the simple fact that people live here because they genuinely want to be here. Whether we're natives or transplants, most of us don't live here by accident. We're not here just because this is where we were born or because this is where our job happens to be. We're here because we love Boulder. We love the friendly vibe, the endless outdoor pursuits right in our backyard, the ease of getting around by foot & by bike, the incredible local businesses, and the natural beauty of our 45,000 acres of open space.
Unfortunately, a place like Boulder also attracts another kind of person. Someone who sees all of the things we love and their brain automatically translates that to dollar signs. Hence the onslaught of reckless development that benefits only a few and takes Boulder's best qualities away from the rest of us. They like to hide behind words like "affordability" and "sustainability" but I beg you to dig deeper, read between the lines, and consider who really benefits. It breaks my heart to know that a lot of Boulderites are being duped.
I encourage you to join me at Together4Boulder and learn more about Sam, Mary, Mirabai, John, & Cindy. These are truly wonderful people dedicated to putting Boulder back on the right track for the sake of our neighborhoods, our open space, our independent businesses, and all the values that make us Boulderites. Thank you. (Link in profile! Also, find us on Facebook)
