Growing up was hard in the Di'Antonio household. My father, Marcelo was strict and disciplinary. If we spoke without being spoken to, we would be smacked and sent to our rooms. If we ate before our prayer we would get our fingers struck by a whip and we wouldn’t be able to finish our supper. That’s just how my father was. My mother Christina, on the other hand, she was gentle, and kind to me and my big brother, Salvador and my baby sister, Clementine. She loved us more than anything. Whenever father was in one of his ‘moods’ she’d take us out of the cottage and we would walk to the neighbors farm and play around with the animals. Whenever father struck us she’d come to our rooms and hold us and tell us everything would be okay. February 14th, 1793. It was my 18th birthday. My mother, siblings and I were celebrating while my father slept. The day was perfect, until he was woken by all the noise. He came charging out and began screaming in my mother’s face. I tried stepping in between but my father picked me up and threw me across the room. I hit my head hard, blood gushed all over the place and I was losing consciousness. Salvador screamed and ran over to me, holding the wound. Everything was blurry, I could only see the outline of my parents and heard the muffled yelling and arguing. All of a sudden, blood spattered everywhere, all I saw was red, and heard Clementine screaming for my mother.
He killed her. After that, I completely blacked out. A day later was when I woke up. My head was pounding, all wrapped in old cloths. I looked around, I wasn’t in my home, I was in some type of cave. I called out for my mother and Siblings. Salvador and Clementine came running to me. They told me everything that happened. After that, I have never celebrated my birthday. My father hunted me and My siblings for years and years. Until one day I decided to get it over with. I lured him to the woods. We both turned into our wolf form and fought for hours on end. My father was strong, but over the years I grew even stronger. I killed him. Beat him and ripped him to shreds. I vowed to protect the ones I loved from him.
And I succeeded.
