tassiomachado's Instagram Photo - Hoje foi um dia muito triste para o fisiculturismo. O atleta Dallas McCarver de apenas 26 anos, uma das grandes promessas do esporte, faleceu. Mas apesar de todo os riscos à saúde que envolvem o esporte, a mais provável causa de sua morte foi algo passível a todos: SUFOCAMENTO. O jovem atleta foi encontrado caído no chão de sua casa com comida alojada em sua traqueia, sem sinais aparentes de nenhum outro tipo de trauma. E por isso venho até vocês dar este alerta. O engasgo é o fenômeno que ocorre durante a deglutição ou a regurgitação, quando a traqueia é bloqueada por líquidos ou alimentos dificultando ou impedindo a respiração. O engasgo se dá quando a epiglote (cartilagem que serve como uma tampa, para que o alimento não penetre na laringe), por qualquer motivo, falha em executar corretamente seu papel e o alimento ou o líquido é extraviado pela laringe ao invés da faringe, impedindo o ar de chegar até os pulmões. O engasgo fortuito pode acontecer a qualquer pessoa e geralmente é um incômodo que só dura alguns segundos, mas em alguns casos (como o citado aqui) pode levar à morte por asfixia. Para evitar que isso ocorra, aqui vão boas orientações:
-Evite comer com pressa e mastigue direito: Uma correta mastigação tritura os alimentos em pedaços menores, o que facilita a deglutição assim como a digestão;
-Se alimente em locais tranquilos: Qualquer tipo de susto pode levar a um incorreto funcionamento da epiglote, o que por sua vez pode levar ao engasgo;
-Fique atento a problemas secundários: Condições gastrointestinais, pneumológicas ou neurológicas graves, assim como apneia obstrutiva do sono, podem levar a engasgos constantes.
Nada muito difícil nem complicado, mas de grande ajuda.

Macronutrients are substances that humans need to consume large amounts of in the diet to provide energy for daily activities, sport, and living. The three macronutrients are protein, carbohydrates, and fat. These are very important in energy balance in the body (calories taken into the body vs. calories expended for daily energy requirements) and depending on your goal, the amount you consume of each will vary quite a bit. The general USDA guidelines for the macronutrients are as follows. However, in the picture provided, you can see our recommendations based on the type of athlete you are or based on your fitness goals!

Carbohydrates ---------- 45-65% of daily caloric intake
(1 g = 4 kcals)

• Fuel during high-intensity exercise and for the brain
• Spares protein (to preserve muscle mass during exercise)
****After a workout: need to have carbohydrate to protein ratio of 2:1 (at least 30 g carbohydrates and 15 g protein)

• Used for building, repairing and maintaining body tissues
