Dear Brothers and Sisters,
So last night, around 2 am I get a phone call from a friend I hadn't seen or talked to in over a year. And for almost an hour, he catches me up on the story of his life, and how he has been living for Christ, but also on how the enemy keeps trying to attack and destroy him. But every time, he told me how he put his faith in Christ, even when it looked like he was guilty, he kept stating, "I'm speaking the truth, and it says that the truth will set you free." He had gone through 3 certain trails that came against him:
1.) Trial of Temptation
2.) Trial of Listening to God
3.) Trial of Patience, Endurance, and Faith
Now the thing that really shows God's presence into the situation, is not only does he trust in God in every situation and get delivered from each trial, but every time he had a trial, one his friends would wake up at that exact time claiming he saw a vision of that exact circumstance or trial and would start to cry as he prays in tongues over the vision. So when they called one would exchange the news while the other was just amazed!
So as I continue to listen to my friend talk to me, almost preach to me, as I'm lying in bed half asleep, the spirit comes over me and causes me to start laughing. Now like I told him last night, it was 2:30 in the morning, my body was going into shut down mode to fall asleep, and all of a sudden as my friend starts talking to me, the spirit just wakes me up even more and starts causing me to laugh. And so with that I just started to pray in tongues as my friend continues to talk.
My friend, a man rooted in the Word, living for Christ, told me something that I couldn't help but write down: "We need to be at the end of ourselves, so that we can find Jesus, and follow him." I love this so much because for me it hits home. I've been so caught up in the motions of doing school, going to work, hanging with friends, and living a "Christian" life, but it's not about going through the motions, it's about sacrificing and surrendering yourself (your emotions, time, reputation, words, and actions) to what Gods will is for you. At times it may be uncomfortable, but God calls us to walk on the water.
