This video from Iskra Lawrence was recently featured on Elle (which I now love them both for!) - it popped up on my news feed recently and I loved it, so I really wanted to share with you all as a self esteem exercise!
How many times do we look at magazine shoots, at Instagram photos, and models in general and get that real sinking feeling about how their bodies and lives are so much better than ours? I stopped looking at Instagram photos in the way a while ago when I did Thrive and decided to focus to build my own self esteem rather than compare myself to every one else. However, for the last few weeks as a small experiment I've tried to make myself look at Instagram photos for a little bit every day, and it takes some work not to feel glum seeing all those 'happy', filtered, 'perfect' pictures on there all the time!! This video is ace because it reminds us that everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that we believe about ourselves is about our perspective, and our own beliefs about how we stack up against others (Spoiler alert - you can change this easily, all by yourself, if you really want to!). So watch this video, understand that the photos we see are very often illusions rather than total reality, and remember that if we are feeling truly rubbish about ourselves or looking to others to make ourselves feel better, there's only one thing that can change that... Take those shit tinted spectacles off, chuck on the rose tinted ones, and look at yourself with a new perspective :) You only get one you and if you don't like and value yourself how can you expect anyone else to either?! So become your own best supporter, learn to 😍 yourself and your body in all its glory, and you will begin to feel completely different :) I certainly did!!
