But if you continue to do so you'll put pressure on your cervical spine for no reason. Also keep your hips down to get the most out of this movement and keep the actual emphasis fully on the hamstrings! Keep a balance between lying and seated ham curls in your training. In simple terms the seated hits the inner hams more and the lying hits the outer ham muscles more. Boom!

I find them fantastic alongside my free weight squat exercises and dare I say it sometimes they take their place entirely. That might be when fatigued for any reason or have perhaps exhausted my back from a prior workout and don't want any such fatigue effect how much I can pound my legs! In short, especially where hypertrophy is your goal hack squats are bad ass. Deep and heavy. Enjoy!

Most people don't get it but there is only 2g actual impact (digestible) carbs in each bar. So when they say this is a protein bar they mean it. Not just a sugar pump with some protein rammed in. 21g protein. Boom! I also love the caramel and fudge brownie flavours a huge amount but the Peanut Nutter one here is amazing. This box won't last long!

Today I tried something unusual and completed some very high rep pyramids. 100, 80, 60, 40, 20, 10. The pump was insane! I did barbell curls, triceps pushdowns, cable hammer curls and overhead rope extensions.

I started with this Leg Extension full pyramid as a huge pre-exhaust for my quads before hitting some squats and leg press. Running on about 12-20 reps starting light all the way down and back up the stack. It wasn't pleasant and it was probably about 20 sets. Ouch! Not regular or even recommended but sometimes you just have to push it! πŸ’ͺ

balfouruk's Instagram Photo - One of my favourite choices for LISS (Low Intensity Solid State) cardio is the StairMaster when I can find a gym with one. 
I find it great in both active recovery between leg days for the circulation and stretching the posterior leg chain (hams and glutes in particular) and is a good balance being less boring than a walk on the incline treadmill. 
However, for those who are prioritising glute activation some studies show that it does not actually engage the glutes as much as a treadmill, even when just treadmill walking, perhaps surprisingly. However neither should really be a go-to glute exercise in place of any resistance work!

Incline Dumbbell Press is a personal preference of mine for the upper pecs.
I tend to favour dumbbell chest presses over barbell variations overall actually. Apart from the fact that I train on my own most of the time and don't want to kill myself without a proper bench spot there are a few key reasons why.... Firstly each side is working independently so growth is more balanced. We are mostly naturally dominant on one side and in this instance your dominant side cannot help out more, whereas with a barbell it would, in turn furthering that dominance. 
Secondly, because a dumbbell press has been shown to recruit more muscle fibres. This is due to the increased ROM on offer (unless you are a half rep douchebag), which should also mean a longer time under tension for a rep. 
Thirdly, you also get a more natural and unrestricted arch movement when pressing. This is less likely to lead to injury in my experience and is more likely to lead some chest gains due to better horizontal adduction of the shoulder joint (feel that squeeze at the top of the press as your arm moves across the chest), which is something you get absolutely short changed with by a barbell press.
It should be noted that I DO still barbell bench press also sometimes, but it's still relatively a much more shoulder and tricep dominant movement with standard form in comparison. However, true bilateral movement training such as the barbell bench press is not hindered by stability and you end up handling more weight overall, so this plays a key role particularly when looking towards building overall strength. This is less likely to lead to injury in my experience and is more likely to lead some chest gains due to better horizontal adduction of the shoulder joint (feel that squeeze at the top of the press as your arm moves across the chest), which is something you get absolutely short changed with by a barbell press. It should be noted that I DO still barbell bench press also sometimes, but it's still relatively a much more shoulder and tricep dominant movement with standard form in comparison. However, true bilateral movement training such as the barbell bench press is not hindered by stability and you end up handling more weight overall, so this plays a key role particularly when looking towards building overall strength.
